The Ferry in Galveston, Texas

Ever since I was a kid, I've loved taking the ferry from Galveston to Bolivar. The ride is a pleasant one, and it's free. There have been times when we were aboard the ferry, and had dolphins swim along beside us. It's not that there are a ton of dolphins in those waters, but it does seem there are at least a few of them that have made their home on the ferry route for some years, and they swim alongside the ferry putting on a show, from time to time.

When in Galveston, the ferry ride offers a chance for a cheap and pleasant way to spend an afternoon or evening. You can find the ferry schedule at the Texas Department of Transportation site.
